No consumer protection. A person who makes an off-premises purchase is protected in the same way as retail customers, and in many cases has additional rights. For example, the legislator guarantees the possibility of withdrawing from a sales contract within 14 days of its conclusion. Current legal regulations do not provide for the obligation to accept the return of non-defective goods purchased in the traditional way.

Truth
Direct selling activates professionally. Direct sales enable professional activation of people who are in a particularly difficult situation on the labor market. Companies in this industry give you the opportunity to create jobs for yourself and your loved ones. Importantly, age, gender or previous experience are not important. The sector also offers the possibility of additional work: for about 88 percent. sellers in Poland, direct selling is a temporary job that allows you to improve your home budget.

Falsehood
Direct sellers are uneducated salesmen. Research shows that 90 percent of sellers are people with secondary or higher education. Sellers enjoy great trust of customers, and new ones are most often acquired through recommendation. A direct seller is not a random person: in Poland, almost every fifth seller has been working in the sector for over 10 years.

Truth
Sales training is a strong point of the sector. Companies offer their business partners not only initial and product training, but also business, motivational and specialist skills development, mostly free of charge. PSSB member companies spend almost PLN 7 million annually for this purpose. Due to the fact that the most important role in this business model, right after the product, is played by the consultant, this seems to be a natural direction.

Sellers are employed by direct sales companies. Sellers, most of whom are self-employed, sign only cooperation or agency agreements with distribution companies.

Direct selling is pushy. Research conducted by IBRIS in 2016 shows that more than a quarter of people buying products offered by companies in the direct selling industry are looking for a consultant themselves. Almost 46% of buyers confirm that they appreciate the fact that they can familiarize themselves with the company’s offer in peace, e.g. in their own home, and over 80% rate consultants positively as people who reliably pass on knowledge about the product and are able to respond to bothering questions.
Falsehood
Direct selling, and especially network selling, is a form of pyramid scheme. Pyramid (avalanche sales) is an undertaking in which the participant is rewarded not for the sale of goods or services, as is the case in network companies (MLM), but only for attracting other people to the system, and his possible remuneration comes from the payments of subsequent system participants . Unlike legally operating network companies, pyramid schemes are illegal under Polish and EU law.
